Jesus’ words here on The Mt of the Beatitudes are keys given to all believers for a life of fulfillment in God. The beatitudes embody the heart of Jesus’ ministry and message, they make up and fulfill the promises that God made starting all the way back with Abraham. Jesus tells us in Matthew 4:4 “It is written, ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” The Sermon on the Mount contains words of wisdom from the heart of God, guiding us in a life of virtue. Therefore they bring life, like the food we eat. When we consume the words of Jesus we are feeding our souls the very thing that keeps them alive. Here, the beatitudes are words of life and truth, that are meant to guide us into the fullness of life.
